Here's a blog updated daily, with photographs

But why are so many people saying that the whale is "stranded"?

This term is used to describe animals that have somehow been caught by a low tide in low water and cannot move. But this whale can obviously move wherever she wants to. Greg is right to try to imagine why she might be doing what she is doing.

It occurs to me that there may be no other place where a Whale could get so close to humans along the entire reach of the Gray Whales' migration route from Baja to Alaska. The Hwy 101 bridge is so low, and the water so calm compared to the ocean, that opportunities to communicate with humans at this location seem ideal.

But these Whales may not be going all the way to Alaska, "A population of about 200 gray whales stay along the eastern Pacific coast from Canada to California throughout the summer, not making the farther trip to Alaska waters. This summer resident group is known as the Pacific Coast Feeding Group" -- wikipedia, Gray_Whale

Or this could be just a Whale that wandered up a River in Coastal California! I love the gentle speech that Morphs into a Hyper-Environmental Agenda piece. Very nice! I'm sure that's why the Whale has arrived, to keep us all informed of your personal perspective of Humans as the Invasive Species. Especially the part about being hunted!! That's a tough one, considering North American Indians have a long history of hunting whales, and still do to this day. Ouch! That's one of those hard bumps to Agend-ize correctly in the Environmental/Preservationist World, isn't it! And as far as Carbon Emissions, just follow the best possible advice you can to curb that: "BAN VOLCANOES". Such insight into Whale Speech. We are truly impressed. It is truly incredible how you have been given such an Other-Worldly Gift of Interpretation. Keep it up. We need entertainment and humor in this world!
